The opening press conference started Grand Slam Olsztyn!

Press conference in the „Ukiel” Sport and Recreation Center started the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Warmia Mazury Grand Slam Olsztyn 2016.

Dirk Decher, FIVB Technical Supervisor: On behalf of FIVB I would like to welcome you to the press conference. I would like to thank first to Polish Volleyball Federation, the region and city of Olsztyn that we can host for the second time this tournament here. It’s a great pleasure for us and for the players to come back, because it’s so beautiful here with this lake and surroundings, people are so nice for us. I can tell you that preparations are really good, we can start tomorrow morning.

Pawel Papke, the member of the board of Polish Volleyball Federation: On behalf of Polish Volleyball Federation I would like to welcome the Mayor of Olsztyn and the Mrashall of Warmian-Masurian voivodeship. I am very happy that this event is so popular. I wish this tournament would be organized perfectly both technically and promotionally like it was last year. We’ll do our best to make it happen. As far as sports level is concerned, we  know that Poland has three Olympic duos as the ranking is closed now and we can be sure of that. I am really proud that this event is organized in my region.

Gustaw Marek Brzezin, the Marshall of warmian-masurian voivodeship: Of course, it’s a very important event for us. I am very grateful to the Mayor of Olsztyn that he took up this challenge. We are also very grateful to the FIVB and Polish Volleyball Federation, because everywhere I am now, everybody asks about this tournament. The promotion will be great as it’s the Olympic year. We are also very happy that apart from other countries, we have very strong Polish duos with great successes. Also the player from our region, from Ilawa, Maciej Rudol is playing in Grand Slam so we will support even more.

Piotr Grzymowicz, the Mayor of Olsztyn: We’re meeting in Olsztyn for the second time. Experiences form the last year will help us to prepare this event better. I am sure it will be a great sport fest. We can see that investing in the infrastructure brings wonderful effects. We are very proud and ready to pass this exam. I wish great matches for all the players, a lot of emotions for fans and great support because that’s what is characteristic for volleyball.

Jerzy Litwinski, the Director of Sport and Recreation Center in Olsztyn: Organizing of such an event is something special and gives a great satisfaction. That’s why I would like to thank FIVB, Polish Volleyball Federation, the Marshall and the Mayor that I have possibility of doing that. I am very happy that the tournament is starting. We had some experience from the last year in organizing the event, we made some corrections and I hope everybody will be happy. I would also thank to Mr Rafal Pospiech, the Tournament Director, because the cooperation is very fruitful and there were really hundreds of things to do. I hope that the final score will be positive for us.

Jerzy Mroz, the President of Warmian-Masurian Volleyball Federation: I would like to thank to the Marshall and the Mayor that they invest money so well. Why am I talking about that? Because I was asked if the money was spent correctly. I said with the full confidence: Yes! The promotion for Olsztyn and the region will be great!

Rafal Pospiech, the Tournament Director: I am very happy because I love the day when the tournament is beginning. Because when it’s starting, I know it’s going to be good. I am standing on our tribunes and I know it’s going to be great but of course, I am not the one to judge it. You will do that. I will tell mostly about the sport aspect. Today, the Olympic ranking is closing and now I am sure that the best duos will be with us: Alison/Bruno Schmidt and Larissa/Talita are with us. Also European champions and winners of last Major event in Hamburg are here: Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst from Germany. We are ready as it was said before. We’re trying to be perfect. I also hope that we will be happy about Polish medals at the weekend. Welcome to Olsztyn Grand Slam!
