During the second day of FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Warmia Mazury Olsztyn 2016, spectators gathered in Ukiel Sport and Recreation Center cheered for women starting the pool round and men fighting for the promotion to the main draw.

In both men’s and women’s tournaments, white-and-red fans supported Polish duos: 3 men’s teams were fighting in the qualification round, unfortunately none of them is promoted as they finished Grand Slam Olsztyn after their first matches. Dzikowicz/Parcej were really close to make a surprise- their match against Austrian duo Winter/Petutschnig was one of the most exiting ones. Poland’s rivals turned out to be better, winning the game after the tie-break (21:14, 23:21, 15:13).

Winter/Petutschnig won also their second match and got promotion to the main draw. Also another favorite, Brazilians Ricardo/Andre didn’t fail and are still in the tournament.

In the women’s main draw, five matches ended with three sets and one of games didn’t  happen because Ribera/Fernandez Navarro’s forfeit. Polish fans had more reasons to be happy about this part of the event, as the host Olympic duo, Kołosińska/Brzostek won both their matches: 2:0 (21:17, 21:15) against Lece/Ozolina from Latvia and 2:1 (12:21,21:16, 15:8) against Canadian duo Humana-Paredes/Pischke. This two victories are really important and satisfying as Kinga Kolosinska had problems with her back and the duo had to forfeit three matches in European Championships and withdraw from Major Hamburg.

- I think we lost some points at the beginning and it was hard to get back to the game. Canadians had the leading and they were playing really well- Monika Brzostek summarizes the first set of the match against Humana-Paredes/Pischke. – I think we did better in the service during the second set. In the third one, Monika made some aces and our rivals had problems with receiving, they couldn’t finish the action. We are very happy about the final result- added Kinga Kołosińska.
